A vast and diverse experience
makes John a coach like no other...

Biography

John Armstrong is an actor, producer, director, and coach with over 20 years of diverse professional experience.  John began his training in vocal performance at the famed Jacob’s School of Music at Indiana University, culminating into a bachelor’s degree in musical theatre. After performing professionally off-broadway, on national tour, and in prominent regional theatres, John returned to Indiana University where he completed an MFA in acting. In addition to performing, John began a successful career as an instructor and coach, including stints as as tenure-track professor at Ohio Northern University and on the teaching staff at New York Film Academy. John is also a proud member of the Actor’s Equity Association.

In 2015, John was recruited by New York Speech Coaching to being teaching (what he calls) "performance for non-performers." To date, John's clients have "performed" with great success in virtually every sector of business, finance, marketing, tech, and more, for the purpose of  public addresses, presentations, fundraising, pitch events, and everyday communication. As a practitioner of yoga and meditation and a mental health advocate, John has also helped clients combat anxiety and deal with inner struggles that hinder self-confidence. And with an extensive knowledge of the International Phonetic Alphabet, John has both coached dialects for actors and helped countless international clients communicate more effectively in English.

In 2014, John co-founded and served as COO of Pigasus Pictures, an independent film company recognized as “Cultural Visionaries in Film” by NUVO magazine for their feature film work in Indiana. To date, Pigasus has successfully brought four films to market, including Netflix, Amazon Prime, and in movie theaters around the country. The films of Pigasus include THE GOOD CATHOLIC (with Danny Glover, John C. McGinley) and MS WHTE LIGHT (with Judith Light, John Ortiz, Roberta Colindrez). In addition, John is also the executive director of Pigasus Institute and its DBA The Bloomington Academy of Film & Theatre, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancement of theatre and film in the state of Indiana.

As COO of Pigasus, and executive director of a non-profit, John has extensive experience in fundraising in all forms, from individual investor/donor meetings to pitch events. And as primary business manager of Pigasus, John has an understanding of private equity, including PE funds, has successfully lobbied state legislations for filmmaking tax credits, and has worked closely with government and quasi-government entities in creating strategic partnerships.
